The 14th IWA International Conference on Water Reclamation and Reuse is being organized by the Water Research Commission (WRC) and the IWA Water Reuse Specialist Group (WRSG), and supported by the City of Cape Town.
Cape Town is a very water-stressed conurbation and in 2018 “Day Zero” was very close and could only be
avoided through rigorous austerity measures. The City of Cape Town has recently embarked upon an
ambitious potable reuse project, which will be the largest in Africa. Within the context of these developments, attendees can look forward to obtaining first-hand information on how reuse can be one of the options for avoiding any future “Day Zero”.
The conference therefore focuses on overcoming barriers for reuse of water during a time where ensuring the supply of water security is paramount.
