Economic Zones with Water Availability and Resilience (ZEDAs) are defined as delimited geographical areas whose water sources allow the development of certain productive processes due to their volume and quality, under strict standards of sustainability. Cámara Argentina del Agua (CAA) and more than 30 local and internal organisations have initiated a project promoting the development of ZEDAs in Argentina.

The specific objectives of the project are to:

  • Identify, on a map of water resources of Argentina, the areas with water availability, highlighting the type of source (surface or underground).
  • Analyse the quality of the water in these areas and establish what type of industries could benefit.
  • Promote a set of rules, regulations and laws that encourage the establishment of industries and attraction of investments within a framework of sustainability.
  • Develop a positioning campaign for these areas at the national, regional and international level.
  • Design a financing system for infrastructure works to expand access to drinking water and sanitation in communities neighboring the ZEDAs.
  • Build an Innovation HuB that is a platform for the research and development of solutions for water treatment for industrial and agricultural use, with a focus on nature-based solutions.
  • Contribute to technological development in water treatment to other economic regions.
