The Centre for Advanced Process Technology for Urban REsource recovery (CAPTURE) recently engaged in a new (4th) strategic partnership with KWR Water Research Institute (KWR).
This partnership is a major milestone in the journey towards impactful, science-driven solutions for a sustainable future. With the partnership, CAPTURE also enters in the Watershare platform, KWR’s network of water research organisations and utilities that offer worldwide equitable water solutions for a resilient water future. The strategic partnership and access to the Watershare network will support CAPTURE in contributing to the circular economy by accelerating radical technological innovations in the field of sustainable resource recovery. A key aspect is the multidisciplinary collaboration between stakeholders, with a clear focus on valorisation.
KWR joins the growing list of strategic partners next to the Antwerp maritime academy, Liège Université, and ARC CBBC.

CAPTURE is an initiative which started in 2015 and has grown from interdisciplinary collaboration between several young and dynamic professors from 3 different faculties from Ghent University. In 2019, VITO and the University of Antwerp joined the initiative, followed by Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2020. As a result more than 300 researchers are now collaborating within the organisation and working together with more than 100 companies to deliver a disruptive contribution to the circular economy.
KWR is a research institute, based in the Netherlands, focusing on optimal design and management of the water cycle, with a circular economy as a key driver and the SDGs as reference. With over fifty years of research experience, KWR has a solid knowledge base in water science. From this foundation, KWR develops, together with their stakeholders from the water sector, government, industry, agriculture, nature conservation, research organisations, and society, practical and sustainable solutions to tackle major societal challenges, bridging science to practice.
