Four KWR representatives had the privilege of participating and contirbuting to the 14th IWA Water Reuse and Reclamation Conference which brought together global leaders, researchers, and practitioners to explore innovative solutions in water reuse, resource recovery, and sustainable water management. One of the key themes highlighted was the growing focus on public acceptance of Direct Potable Reuse (DPR), underscoring the importance of community engagement, transparent communication, and trust-building as essential ingredients for successful implementation.

A highlight of the event was the well attended workshop hosted by watershare partners KWR Water Research Insititute (KWR) and Water Research Commission (WRC) on ‘Transformative Water Practices in the Circular Economy.’ The workshop provided valuable insights into how circular economy principles can be applied to water systems to enhance sustainability, resilience, and resource efficiency.

The enthusiastic response to the workshop and presentations demonstrated the growing interest in circular water solutions, and the potential for meaningful partnerships and impactful contributions to sustainable water management in Africa and beyond. The feedback and expressions of interest received through the follow-up conversations further highlight how the workshop has stimulated opportunities for collaboration, with KWR and WRC actively exploring ways to build on this momentum and translate discussions into long-term partnerships and joint initiatives.
